Monsoon to dump more rains in North, Central Luzon

- Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - People in Northern and Central Luzon were warned yesterday against possible flashfloods and landslides as the southwest monsoon was expected to dump more rains this weekend.

Cloudy skies with widespread rains will continue to prevail over Northern and Central Luzon this weekend, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)

“The southwest monsoon will continue to bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Northern and Central Luzon, particularly over the provinces of Ilocos, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac and Bulacan,” PAGASA said.

“Residents living in these areas are warned against threats of flashfloods and floods in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous (regions).”

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA has advised fishermen in Northern and Central Luzon against sailing out to sea.

“Strong to gale force wind is expected to affect the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon,” PAGASA said.
