MANILA, Philippines - National Press Club (NPC) president Benny Antiporda is inviting fellow officers, club members and other members of the press to pay tribute to slain newsman Nixon Kua, former STAR columnist.
“The tribute is the NPC’s own way of recognizing Nixon’s loyalty to the club and his exemplary humility by remaining low-key and approachable as a person and as a public official despite the many blessings and achievements he attained during his lifetime,” Antiporda said.
“Nixon truly exemplifies what any Filipino journalist should be – he never got drunk with power but remained committed to the ideals of the NPC as embodied in our Code of Ethics,” he added.
The tribute to Kua, an NPC lifetime member, would be held tonight at 8 p.m. at the Sanctuarium Chapel along Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.
Kua, 49, was killed by four armed men during a robbery in Calamba City, Laguna last July 21.
