MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police is currently torture testing the new Gen4 Glock 17 9mm pistol for possible use by local enforcers nationwide. The pistol must pass 20,000 rounds of live fire to meet PNP standards. Currently, over 60 percent of police agencies in the US use the Glock pistol in various models and calibers, depending on agency requirements. However, the Glock 17 pistol in 9mm remains the most popular model and caliber worldwide. The unit price of each pistol in the winning bid to the Philippine government is half the price compared to that offered to civilians locally. Glock is confident that their product will pass the PNP torture test as many US Glock owners have already reached the 100,000 round mark with their current units.
