MANILA, Philippines - Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima paid a courtesy call on US Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner during a non-deal roadshow in the US that started last week. They discussed positive developments in the Philippine economy and its fast-growing tourism industry amid global uncertainties.
Purisima also thanked Geithner for the favorable response of the US to the Philippines’ debt-for-nature swap proposal and progress on the Partnership for Growth initiative.
The two officials also shared insights regarding the planned integrated ASEAN by 2015, which is expected to support the deepening of the capital markets and trade relations across the region.
