MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) received no specific threat related to the handing down of the verdict at the conclusion of impeachment proceedings in the Senate, PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome said yesterday.
Bartolome said the PNP will continue to monitor the eventuality and ensure peace and order after the Senate hands down the verdict on Chief Justice Renato Corona.
“As of this time, we received no specifics but at this time and until the end of the activities for the day, we will continue to monitor anything that may happen as a result of the conclusion of the impeachment proceedings,” he told reporters during a briefing.
“The PNP is always ready if there will be any eventuality, we are always prepared and just like you, we are also hoping that this will result in peaceful conclusion,” said Bartolome.
