P-Noy off to UK, US next month
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will meet with United States President Barack Obama and United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron in June, as he also seeks to secure investments and meet with Filipino communities in the US and UK.
Aquino’s first stop will be London where he is eyeing to negotiate a “substantial investment” in the energy sector.
The US embassy in Manila announced Obama would meet Aquino on June 8 at the White House.
The White House said Obama was looking forward to discussing strategic, economic and “people to people” ties between the US and the Philippines and their cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
After Washington, Aquino will proceed to Los Angeles and then head back home for the Independence Day celebration on June 12.
The President earlier bared his foreign trips for the year that would include attendance at canonization ceremonies of Filipino saint Pedro Calungsod in Rome, Italy if his schedule would allow.
Aquino attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in Cambodia last April. He will return to Cambodia in November for the ASEAN Leaders’ summit and related conferences.
He is also expected to visit Australia and New Zealand this year.
Aquino will go to Vladivostok in Russia for the 24th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November.
