Cargo plane makes hard landing at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines - A single-engine Beechcraft “Cherooke” crashed at the Manila Domestic Airport after its front landing gear collapsed upon touchdown yesterday morning.
The plane’s lone occupant, Capt. Alex Garay, was not hurt, according to air traffic controllers.
The plane, registered as RP-C814, came from Busuanga, Palawan, and was loaded with marine products for the local market.
Officials said the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) crash and rescue unit immediately responded to the scene, fielding firetrucks and an ambulance.
The responding unit helped tow the disabled aircraft out of the runway an hour later.
The accident caused all aircraft scheduled to take off on Runway 13 to be diverted to another runway.
