North Korea defers rocket launch
MANILA, Philippines - North Korea's scheduled satellite launch will not push through today owing to unfavorable weather, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management (NDRRMC) said.
NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos ordered the temporary lifting of no-fly, no fishing zones in areas where the rocket debris are supposed to hit after the launch.
"Maghintay uli tayo 6 a.m. to 12 noon [in the next few days] for further developments," Ramos told reporters in a media briefing Thursday.
"Lumampas sa oras so hindi na makapagpapalipad yan... They have to honor their commitment [that the launch will be made only on those hours that they specified] dahil kung hindi masisira sila sa international community...definitely walang pagpapalipad ngayon," Ramos said.
He said fishermen in areas where the rocket debris are projected to fall have a chance to venture out to sea.
"Bukas na ang mga exclusion zone," he said.
Ramos said the information of the deferment of the rocket launch came from the US Pacific Command based in Hawaii.
