'Metro temperature may hit 35ºC this week'

- Ghio Ong, Helen Flores -

MANILA, Philippines - Residents in Metro Manila should bring umbrellas and other sun protection devices as temperature could hit 35 degrees Celsius this week, the weather bureau advised yesterday.

“It is possible that the temperature in Metro Manila will reach 35 degrees Celsius this week,” Robert Sawi, weather division chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in a text message to The STAR.

This year, PAGASA recorded the hottest weather in Metro Manila last March 23 at 34.7 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, PAGASA administrator Nathaniel Servando said that the whole country would experience generally good weather today, Holy Monday.

However, he said the easterlies could bring isolated rain showers and thunderstorms especially in the afternoon.

Sawi said light rains might be experienced on Good Friday due to the possible recurrence of a cold front tail-end.

“We expect the tail-end of a cold front to bring rains on Friday, although this is not expected to be intense,” he said.

PAGASA said no tropical cyclone is likely to affect any part of the country this Holy Week.
