Professor, 64, ranks 10th in Bar
MANILA, Philippines - For sexagenarian Rodolfo Aquino, it is never too late to fulfill a life-long dream of becoming a lawyer.
At the age of 64, he passed last year’s Bar exams and even made it to the top 10.
Aquino, who has been teaching at the University of the Philippines College of Business Administration for over 10 years, was among the first batch of law graduates from the Alabang campus of San Beda College.
He told reporters in a telephone interview that being a senior citizen has never been an obstacle to completing his law degree.
“Kahit matanda na tayo ay makakatulong pa rin sa bayan (Even if we’re old we can still help our country),” said Aquino, who is not related to President Aquino.
A native of Muñoz City in Nueva Ecija and a member of Sigma Rho fraternity, he said he did not pursue his dream earlier in life due to financial constraints.
Aquino said he has not decided yet which law firm to join after he takes his oath on March 12 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
“I will probably apply in one of the law firms of my brods to gain experience,” he revealed, adding that he plans to pursue commercial and economic law.
