STAR job fair creates buzz at Trinoma

MANILA, Philippines - As soon as the mall opened, jobseekers came in droves and made a beeline for the Activity Center of Trinoma Ayala Mall yesterday. Their target: The Philippine STAR Career Guide Job Fair. Queuing obediently, fresh-faced applicants eagerly waited for their turn to enter the world of opportunities made available by The STAR and its partner-companies.

The Trinoma job fair is the second in a series of job fairs from Career Guide, The STAR’s section on the hottest job openings that comes out every Sunday. What started in 2007 as a quarterly event is now a monthly staple for the career section, which has gained popularity as a guide for jobseekers and is credited for organizing the most successful job fairs in the country. 

“The job fair is a project of Career Guide. The event naturally evolved to address the needs of applicants and to put them in touch with top companies in a venue that is convenient and comfortable,” shared Career Guide group head Bimbo Andrade.

[We don’t just include everything they need to start with, like getting their Tax Identification Number (TIN), and their Social Security System (SSS) number, and PhilHealth, we give them additional assistance to guide them in achieving their goals,” he added. 

At the event, Alex Araneta of Inspire Leadership Consultancy gave applicants helpful tips on how to craft a resumé to get the jobs they want. Also in the lineup was a personality development talk by Abbygale Arenas-De Leon of Personif-I Development. 

With IBM and Accenture as major sponsors, the event had other call centers and local recruitment firms in the mix. Participating companies entertained a robust crowd handing in prepared resumés, and many conducted interviews on the spot.

“The Career Guide Job Fair is an active approach in assisting applicants to connect with top-quality companies in the country. We will continue to come up with other events and interests that will help readers in getting their dream jobs,” Andrade added.
