Conejos named Phl's permanent representative to WTO
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has appointed Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Esteban Conejos Jr. as the country’s permanent representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Conejos, undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs, will have the rank and compensation of chief of mission, Class 1 in the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. said.
Ochoa also forwarded the appointment papers of Conejos to the bicameral Commission on Appointments (CA) for his confirmation.
“An early consent to his nomination will be highly appreciated,” the President said in a letter to the CA members.
The President also appointed lawyer Ericson Alcovendaz as acting assistant commissioner, Post Entry Audit Group of the Bureau of Customs.
Lawyer Prudencio Reyes, who had served in various government and private positions, was named acting deputy commissioner, Assessment Operations Coordinating Group, while Fernandino Tuason was appointed acting director 3, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service of the BOC.
