Motion to recall GMA arrest warrant submitted for resolution

- Perseus Echeminada -

MANILA, Philippines - The Pasay City Regional Trial Court has submitted for resolution a motion of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo seeking to recall the arrest warrant in the electoral sabotage case against her, a court official said yesterday.

Felda Domingo, designated spokesperson for RTC Branch 112, told The STAR that Judge Jesus Mupas may issue an order on the motion within 15 to 30 days.

The case was submitted for resolution after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the defense panel had submitted their comments on the case.

Earlier, three lawyers of Arroyo – Jose Flaminiano, his son Jay, and Lawrence Arroyo – had withdrawn their appearance for Arroyo in the electoral sabotage case to concentrate on the three graft cases filed against her before the Sandiganbayan.

“We are now concentrating on the graft cases at the Sandiganbayan,” the elder Flaminiano said.

Lawyer Benjamin Santos, who is now handling the non-bailable election sabotage case, earlier had filed the motion to recall the arrest warrant issued to the former president.

Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.
