Ronald Singson returns home today

- Teddy Molina -

VIGAN CITY ,Philippines  – Former Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson will be arriving today after his release from confinement in a Hong Kong jail where he served sentence for drug possession.

Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, Ronald’s father, left for the former British colony yesterday to fetch the former congressman.

Ilocos Sur Rep. Ryan Luis Singson, Ronald’s younger brother, told The STAR that Hong Kong authorities have not yet informed them of his brother’s flight itinerary.

Reports had it that Ronald would land at the Laoag International Airport since there are direct flights between Hong Kong and Laoag.

He said the release process includes deportation proceedings, after which the court would promulgate Ronald’s flight details.

But he gave assurance that his brother would be arriving today as scheduled.

The Singsons have scheduled a public rally at Plaza Burgos to welcome the former lawmaker, which would include a thanksgiving Mass at the governor’s sprawling Baluarte residence.

Expected to attend are relatives, local officials, political supporters, friends and other well wishers.

A dinner reception would follow after the Mass.

The children-beneficiaries of the former congressman’s “Operation Smile” project would also be on hand to welcome their benefactor.

After he settles down, Ronald will reportedly attend to the business concerns he left behind, including his Channel V music and entertainment channel.
