MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at the House of Representatives late yesterday afternoon but was immediately put out.
The Quezon City Fire Department described the fire as “electrical” in nature.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Mauricio Jose said it happened in the “electrical room” at the south wing of the Batasan Pambansa.
The first alarm was raised at 5:49 p.m. and the fire was immediately put under control at 6:03 p.m., he said.
Jose said there were no reported casualties during the incident.
Arson investigators were still on site as of press time to determine what caused the fire.
Jose also said investigators have yet to come up with an estimate of the damage.
