Noy plans changes in legal team
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has bared plans to make changes in his legal team and in some other positions in his government.
“Major positions but not necessarily the Cabinet... or there might be movements within the Cabinet,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
Aquino said the Malacañang legal team was “being improved.” When asked if this meant that people would be removed or added, he replied: “You can say that.”
Aquino did not name the officials who will be affected by the looming revamp.
This year, the President replaced Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo with businessman Albert del Rosario.
Two secretaries resigned – Alberto Lim of the Department of Tourism and Jose de Jesus of the Department of Transportation and Communications.
Lim was replaced by advertising man Ramon Jimenez, while De Jesus was replaced by former senator and Liberal Party president Manuel Roxas II.
Former Customs commissioner Angelito Alvarez was also removed and former Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon was tapped to take his place.
Bureau of Corrections director Jose Diokno also resigned after a controversy involving alleged special treatment for former Batangas governor Antonio Leviste.
