CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City ,Philippines – As much as possible, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome wants the 142,000-strong police force to internalize, memorize and be able to recite by heart the poem “Ako’y Isang Pulis.”
Bartolome made the statement during his first official visit here from Friday until yesterday to spearhead the turnover by the Department of Health-Caraga Regional Office of its recently accomplished project – the P10-million peso Police Regional Office 13 Hospital and its facilities to the management of the PNP.
In a conference with top police officials in Caraga Region headed by Regional Director Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Rafal on Friday, Bartolome reminded them about the poem and urged every PNP-PIO office to visit public and private schools to educate school children about the poem.
The country’s top cop also said he wants the PNP poem posted in police stations and regional offices nationwide.
Bartolome added that the one-strike policy against police station chiefs in the country who fail to stop illegal gambling activities stays.
Among the activities attended by Bartolome during his visit here were the launching of the Regional Tactical Operations Center (RTOC), the Electronic Blotter or e-Blotter and Task Force Surigao; send-off of the Special Action Force (SAF) to Caraga Region; and blessing of additional vehicles for the PNP.
