MANILA, Philippines - Weather bureau reported yesterday that tropical depression “Onyok” changed course yesterday and had moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said eastern Visayas and Mindanao will still experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country, on the other hand, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
As of 10 a.m. yesterday, the center of Onyok was spotted at 1,160 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center. It was forecast to move north at seven kph.
Onyok is expected to be 1,260 kms east northeast of Basco this (Wednesday) morning and 1,300 kms east northeast of Basco or 370 kms east of Okinawa, Japan by tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
PAGASA said it is not discounting the possibility of Onyok reentering Philippine territory.
If it reenters the Philippine area of responsibility, it will still be called Onyok, it said.
