Search on for Phl democracy hero

- Jose Rodel Clapano -

MANILA, Philippines - The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (FNF) is accepting nominations for the “Liberal Project” which recognizes ordinary people who, by contributing to society, are heroes in their own right.

As part of the commemoration of National Heroes’ Day on Aug. 29, the foundation is inviting government and non-government organizations to nominate a Filipino hero for democracy.

“Freedom may be a complex concept, but there are people who make us understand its real meaning. Those who help us maximize our potentials to achieve our dreams are guardians of freedom, and they are heroes,” said country director Jules Maaten. “One can be ordinary but inspire great things.”

Nominations for the Liberal Project are open until Aug. 31. Entries may be submitted at www.fnf.org.ph . The presentation of awards will be held on Oct. 27 to coincide with the Freedom Speech with President Aquino as the invited speaker.
