STAR columnist to receive Presidential Legion of Honor

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will bestow the Presidential Legion of Honor on Philippine STAR columnist William “Billy” Esposo and several other heroes of the Edsa People Power I of February 1986.

The author of the “As I Wreck this Chair” column will receive the award in ceremonies today at the Heroes Hall in Malacañang, in recognition of the key players that helped topple the 20-year Marcos dictatorship.

Esposo’s fellow awardees are the late US Rep. Stephen Solarz, the late Manila Times publisher Chino Roces, the late STAR columnist Teddy Benigno, who once served as press secretary of the late President Corazon Aquino, Fr. James Reuter and veteran newspaperman and former Manila Bulletin publisher Napoleon Rama.

Meantime, a Kalayaan Marker will also be unveiled today in Malacañang.
