The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) continues to respond to the call of serving the Cebu business community and upholds its mission to be the "Engine of Cebu's Growth towards global competitiveness". With the able support and dedication of its officers and trustees, advisers, and partners, CCCI has proven its commitment for the past 97 years. Recently, CCCI inducted the 2010-2011 set of officers and trustees at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel wherein no less than the Executive Secretary of the Philippines, Atty. Paquito "Jojo" Ochoa Jr. as the inducting officer and the keynote speaker.
During his speech, Atty. Ochoa expressed optimism that the Cebu business community will continue to prosper and be at par with other booming countries. Atty. Ochoa also expressed further optimism that the Philippines will be able to regain the confidence of the international community even after the recent hostage crisis.
CCCI President Samuel L. Chioson, on the other hand, expressed support to the present administration. Meanwhile, during the induction, Chioson laid down the projects and accomplishments of his presidency for the past five months. The evening celebration highlighted the recent international award garnered by CCCI's Cebu Business Month as the overall recipient of the 2010 Associations Make a Better World Award, sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) & The Center for Association Leadership under the "Developing Nation Category".
The award recognizes association programs, projects and activities that make significant contribution to society and economies around the world. Dr. Mila C. Espina, the ever active Chairman and consultant for 15 years, accompanied by trustee and past CBM chair, Ms. Ma. Teresa Chan received the award in Los Angeles, California, USA last month during ASAE's Annual Meeting and Exposition.
During the General Membership Meeting (GMM), 36 new member-companies were inducted and introduced by the PAST President Jose T. Ng to the Chairpersons of the different committees who also took their oath with renewed passion. CCCI's successes would not have been made possible without the help of the local governments of Cebu City and of Cebu Province of Cebu. Governor Gwen Garcia attended the event to show her continuing support for the Chamber.
