MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco has confirmed that there were no Filipinos killed in the explosion in San Bruno City, California on Thursday.

The consulate is trying to determine from county officials and leaders of the Filipino community if there were Filipinos injured in the blast.

In a report to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the consulate reported that a 30-inch pipeline exploded around 6:15 p.m. last Sept. 9 in San Bruno, San Mateo County.

Reports said six people were killed in the blast. A hundred people were displaced and temporarily housed in various shelters after 53 houses were severely damaged and 222 were partially damaged.

The consulate said Filipinos affected by the blast may seek assistance through the Assistance-to-Nationals Officer at telephone number (1 415) 424 9908.

The status of victims may also be checked through the website www.safeandwell.org, which has been set up by the American Red Cross.
