Public urged: Get A(H1N1) vaccines

- Sheila Crisostomo -

MANILA, Philippines –  The Department of Health is inviting the public to avail themselves of free Influenza A(H1N1) vaccination at barangay health centers before the vaccines expire on Sept. 15.

In a telephone interview, DOH program manager for emerging and re-emerging diseases Dr. Lyndon Leesuy said the vaccines form part of the 1.9 million doses donated to the Philippines by the World Health Organization (WHO) last March.

Leesuy said targeted recipients like frontline health workers, pregnant women, those under five years old and above 60 years old and those who are immuno-compromised or with chronic illnesses have already been vaccinated.

Leesuy said the public should not let this chance of getting free vaccines pass.
