Kris, James agree on visitation rights for Baby James

- Jose Rodel Clapano -

MANILA, Philippines – Estranged couple Kris Aquino and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star James Yap forged a compromise agreement yesterday allowing Yap to take care of his son, Baby James, three days a week.

In an interview immediately after the hearing at the Makati Regional Trial Court of Yap’s petition for visitation rights, the basketball star’s lawyer Lorna Kapunan said Aquino agreed to allow the father to have their son during Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

“Under the compromise agreement, James Yap can have Baby James on Wednesdays from 2 to 8 p.m., and he can have an overnight with his son on Fridays and Saturdays. He can also bring him to his games if he wants,” Kapunan said.

Kapunan said Judge Cristina Sulit of RTC branch 140 also set the hearing of the annulment case filed by Aquino on Aug. 26.

She said the judge talked with Kris heart to heart and the two parties have amicably entered into a compromise on the visitation rights sought by Yap.

Aquino said the welfare of their son is their “utmost priority.”

Aquino said she and Yap are doing everything to make things better for their son.

“We will do everything that this will not be a traumatic experience for our son,” she said.

Meanwhile, employees of the Makati RTC and some kibitzers turned the presence of Aquino and Yap into a circus.

Some of the court employees stopped working during the three-hour hearing of Aquino and Yap.

The star-struck employees did not even bother to attend the flag retreat ceremonies at the city hall.

“I want to see James Yap. He is very handsome,” said a female court employee.
