MANILA, Philippines - Health Secretary Enrique Ona plans to computerize the filing system of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) to immediately detect padded claims by accredited health care facilities.
“The documentation system of Philhealth is being done manually so it really would not be easy (to detect) padded claims,” Ona said.
He said the money lost to padded claims could be used to enroll indigent citizens in the state health insurance system.
The government targets to enroll some 4.7 million families identified as indigents by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the National House Targeting System-Proxy Means Test.
