Cruz wants list of bishops who receive Pagcor donations

CEBU, Philippies - Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz wants to know the names of Catholic bishops who have received contributions/donations from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR).

The anti-gambling advocate said he will get their names from the gambling agency after the Freedom of Information Bill becomes law.

Once he obtains the names of bishops receiving money from PAGCOR, he will raise the matter before the Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), he added.

At present it would be hard for him to get their names because the list of recipients of contributions/donations from PAGCOR is confidential, he said.

The chairman of the Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Sugal (KBLS) said why he backs the passage into law of the Freedom of Information Bill because money from PAGCOR is considered government funds and their vouchers are public documents.
