Cabral tells parents not to worry about H1N1

- Sheila Crisostomo -

MANILA, Philippines - Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral has assured parents that there is nothing to worry about influenza A(H1N1) when classes resume next month, saying there is no epidemic in the country.

But Cabral warned that A(H1N1) remains a threat around the world and “everyone should always keep their guard up.”

“There’s nothing to fear when it comes to A(H1N1). But, of course, we should always observe personal hygiene, we should always keep our surroundings clean to keep away not only A(H1N1) but other illnesses as well,” she said.

Last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared A(H1N1) as a global pandemic.

In the Philippines, most cases were in private schools. Foreign and Filipino students who traveled abroad for vacation brought in the virus.
