MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has instructed its labor standards enforcement networks, on their next round of inspection, to check if establishments are remitting contributions to the Pag-IBIG Fund and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
“This will ensure that employers comply with the law. DOLE will subsequently provide the two agencies with inspection and monitoring reports,” said DOLE Secretary Marianito Roque.
The Pag-IBIG Fund was created by Republic Act 9679 to provide housing loans at low interest rates.
PhilHealth is a universal health insurance service created by Republic Act 7875.
“(PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG Fund) will pursue efforts aimed at encouraging employers to comply with their requirements and to take appropriate actions against those found with violations,” Roque said.
