MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of volunteers for administration presidential candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro will mobilize nationwide on election day to protect his votes, organizers said yesterday.
Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal said he would be giving a free lecture on poll watching and other related election rules to Teodoro’s volunteers on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the CSP Building along EDSA in Mandaluyong City.
He said the lecture was sponsored by the Mahal Ko Bayan Ko Women’s Group headed by Evelyn Kilayko.
Meanwhile, thousands of Caviteños poured into the streets of their province and later converged at a giant proclamation rally held at the General Trias Convention Center last Saturday night to show their support for Teodoro.
“(The people here) are pro-Gibo because he has the best qualities of the other presidentiables: he is incorruptible and he’s hardworking, yet he keeps a low profile,” General Trias Mayor Jon-Jon Ferrer said.
“Most of all, the people believe that he can unite the country, and the clashing politicians,” Ferrer said. “Gibo represents the new face of politics, the politics of performance; politics which focuses on important issues concerning the country.”
He expressed confidence that Teodoro, a Harvard graduate and 1989 bar topnotcher, will win in General Trias, saying that the huge turnout of people from all 33 barangays is already an indication of Teodoro’s victory.
Thousands of residents took to the streets to watch the vehicle of Teodoro and get a glimpse the candidate.
“It’s an honor to meet the people of Cavite,” Teodoro said.
