Noynoy urged to apologize for 'dirty politicking'
MANILA, Philippines - Vice-presidential candidate Sen. Loren Legarda and five senatorial candidates of the Villar-led Nacionalista Party yesterday called on Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Sen. Noynoy Aquino and his running mate Sen. Manuel Roxas II to apologize to the Filipino people for bringing the election campaign to new lows of dirty politicking.
“I have already run for national posts thrice but now is the dirtiest campaign being waged by our rivals,” Legarda said, reading from a prepared statement.
Legarda, along with NP senatorial bets representatives Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza, Ramon Mitra Jr. and Adel Tamano, and 16-year-old Faye Querubin representing her father, detained Col. Ariel Querubin, appeared in a press conference at the Senate to condemn the LP’s low level campaigning.
They all agreed that the LP should apologize to the NP-NPC coalition and the Filipino people for condoning what they described as black operations in the course of the campaign period.
