STA. MARIA, Bulacan, Philippines – The principal players of the once-formidable Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) party were a no-show in its proclamation rally here yesterday.
Former first lady Imelda Marcos and her son Ilocos Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. failed to show up in the proclamation rally of the KBL to supposedly launch the campaign of its presidential candidate Vetellano Acosta.
Acosta was also missing but vice presidential candidate Jay Sonza and senatorial candidate Imelda Papin made their appearance by entertaining a crowd of supporters who waited under the heat of the afternoon sun.
“It’s still Mel and Jay in the 2010 election,” Sonza declared.
The campaign rally took another twist after Sonza publicly disowned Acosta, accusing him of running with his own personal agenda.
Sonza admitted that he only met Acosta twice and this time, he does not want the KBL presidential candidate campaigning alongside him. – Perseus Echeminada
