Other victims of Maguindanao massacre buried today

MANILA, Philippines - The remaining bodies of media persons killed in the gruesome Nov. 23 Maguindanao massacre will be buried today.

The bodies of UNTV crew Victor Nuñez, reporter; Julito Evardo, cameraman; and McDelbert Arriola, driver will be buried in their native General Santos City. 

Daniel Tiamzon, driver, will be buried in Parañaque.

The funeral procession and burial will be broadcast on UNTV.

In Koronadal City, the bodies of Rannie Razon of Periodico Ini, Bienvenido “Jun” Legarta of Fontiera News, and Ernesto “Bart” Maravilla of Bombo Radyo Koronadal will also be buried today.

Buried yesterday were Jimmy Cabillo of Midland Review, Rudy Betia of Frontiera News and Rey Merisco of Tingog Mindanao, Bal Cachuela of The Manila Star and Joel Parcon of Frontiera News.

‘Electric chair penalty’

At past noon, the family and friends of Parcon, gathered at the St. Anthony Cathedral for the Requiem Mass.

Parcon, a dzRH reporter turned publisher of the weekly newspaper, was buried in a cemetery in Banga town.

“It’s very painful to lose a loving husband and a good father to our three children,” said Parcon’s wife Noemi, a public school teacher.

Parcon’s youngest daughter Apple Joy said she wants an “electric chair” penalty for her father’s killers.

In a brief burial ceremony for Cachuela, his younger brother Allan, said he still could not believe his brother is gone.

He describes his brother as a “good and responsible man.”

He last saw his brother on the eve of the massacre. – Ramil Bajo
