Hayden to appeal revocation of medical license

MANILA, Philippines - The legal counsel of celebrity cosmetic doctor Hayden Kho Jr. described as “too harsh and unfair” the decision of the Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) Medical Board to revoke her client’s license.

Lawyer Lorna Kapunan said they will file a motion for reconsideration within the 15-day deadline given by the PRC before it permanently revokes Kho’s license.

“The decision can still be appealed and we will file our motion for reconsideration before the Commission within 15 days,” Kapunan said.

Early this year, Kho’s former girlfriend, actress Katrina Halili, petitioned the PRC to revoke Kho’s medical license for immoral, dishonorable and unethical conduct for videotaping their sexual liaison without her permission.

Videos of Kho in intimate relations with other women also found their way to the Internet after Halili’s video surfaced.

The PRC Medical Board ruled that Kho violated Halili’s privacy and that he displayed unethical conduct for having a sexual relationship with his patient.

Kapunan said the six-man medical board did not take into consideration that her client was not involved in the dissemination of the videos and that his liaison with Halili was consensual.

“Halili was not forced into the relationship thus Hayden should not be penalized for it,” she added.

PRC said Kho can still practice medicine before he surrenders his license, but not while his appeal is being heard.

Kapunan also described the decision as “very dubious” because after coming out with a decision on Nov. 20, they only received a copy of the decision yesterday.

“We were given a copy only today (Nov. 24) yet a lot of media already knew about it. Very dubious,” Kapunan said.
