Dumlao affirms content of 3 handwritten affidavits
MANILA, Philippines - Former police superintendent Glenn Dumlao has reaffirmed as true the three handwritten affidavits he made during different dates at yesterday’s continuation of the trial of the Dacer-Corbito case before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC).
In an interview after the hearing, Dumlao’s lawyers Rogelio Agoot and Morel Callueng noted that their client only reaffirmed the three handwritten affidavits as being true, and no new personality was linked in the murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2000.
The hearing will resume on Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m. before the sala of Judge Myra Garcia-Fernandez.
“Dumlao affirmed all three handwritten affidavits during the cross-examination. He also confirmed that he voluntarily executed the handwritten statements. He claimed that he was not coerced by anybody in the execution of the handwritten statements,” Agoot said in an interview at the Manila RTC. Callueng also noted that Dumlao personally went to a prosecutor to swear on his three affidavits.
“There are four affidavits. He confirmed all the three handwritten affidavits, dated June 12, 2001, March 2007, and Aug. 18, 2009. He explained that all of these were handwritten by him and he went personally to a notary public or a prosecutor to subscribe it,” said Callueng. – Sandy Araneta
