MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines will take part in a biannual review of international science education policy in Paris, France starting next year, the Science Education Institute (SEI) said yesterday.
The International Council for Science has confirmed the nomination of SEI Director Dr. Ester Ogena to the ICSU review panel that would study the policies of the organization for the next seven years.
The SEI said the Philippines is the only member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be part of the review body.
The ICSU is an international non-governmental organization devoted to international cooperation in the advancement of science.
The Philippines is a member of the ICSU.
Ogena was nominated to the review panel by the National Research Council of the Philippines, an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology.
Ogena said it is the first time that the Philippines would be taking part in a science education policy review panel at the international level. – Helen Flores
