Ricketts named OMB chief

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang has confirmed the appointment of actor Ronnie Ricketts as chairman of the Optical Media Board.

Ricketts replaces fellow actor Edu Manzano, who resigned last August.

Manzano’s term at the OMB ended in March 2007 but he was allowed to remain in a holdover capacity.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita also announced yesterday the appointments of Renato Velasco as a member of the board of directors of the Development Bank of the Philippines and deputy presidential spokesperson Anthony Golez as undersecretary of the Office of the Press Secretary.

Velasco has served under various politicians since the 1980s and held three different posts under the Arroyo administration.     – Marvin Sy
