MANILA, Philippines - The official announcement of the tandem of former President Joseph Estrada and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay for the 2010 elections is all set at the Plaza Amado Hernandez in Tondo, Manila tomorrow.
Some 5,000 delegates from the United Opposition’s (UNO) chapters in Makati, San Juan, Navotas, Quezon City and Bulacan are expected to witness the formal nomination of Estrada and Binay as UNO’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively.
Also attending the event are various groups supporting UNO including MARE, JEEP, EDSA 3 coalition and Agilang Pilipino.
Mayor Binay said the Erap-Binay tandem will carry the slogan “Tapat sa Mahirap, Samahang Tunay,” and a platform of anti-poverty, food security, anti-corruption, peace and order and environmental sustainability programs.
At least eight senatorial candidates, headed by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, will also be officially announced as part of UNO’s Senate slate.
