Strafing of Neri's house linked to ZTE case?
MANILA, Philippines - Police believe the strafing of Social Security System administrator Romulo Neri’s house in Quezon City has something to do with the ZTE case.
Metro Manila police commander Director Roberto Rosales said “somebody wanted (Neri) to speak out against President Arroyo,” but he did not elaborate.
“We will throw necessary manpower and financial resources into the case for its speedy resolution,” he said.
Rosales said police are verifying the statement of the driver of a vehicle seized by the gunmen before strafing Neri’s house.
Neri will be given additional police security on a 24-hour basis, although he did not ask for them, he added.
Rosales said Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego will lead the investigation with help from other Metro Manila police investigation units, he added.
San Diego has reported positive developments in their investigation, he added.
However, Rosales refused to reveal the developments so as not to jeopardize follow-up operations.
