Civil Service chief wants employees to devote prayer moment for Cory

MANILA, Philippines – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has enjoined government agencies to devote a moment of prayer during flag-raising rites every Monday of this month for former President Corazon Aquino.

“Together with Filipino public servants everywhere, we kneel in prayer for the eternal repose of her soul where the nation’s welfare and advancement have always been uppermost,” read the CSC circular.

The CSC said the moments of prayer for Mrs. Aquino could be held during flag-raising ceremonies.

“The CSC joins the Aquino and Cojuangco families, the Filipino people and our 1.3 million civil servants in deepest sorrow and solemn prayer over the passing of our former president and freedom patroness Corazon Aquino,” read the circular.

“She led our nation from the dark night of dictatorship to the bright day of democracy restored. And with every Filipino here and across the world, we pledge to uphold the undying democratic ideals President Aquino stood for.” – Reinir Padua
