Puno swears in new CA justice
MANILA, Philippines - Associate Justice Leoncia Dimagiba formally assumed her post as the new justice of the Court of Appeals last Monday, the Supreme Court announced yesterday.
Dimagiba’s appointment brings to 20 the number of female justices and to 63 the total number of justices currently sitting in the appeals court.
Joined by her husband Engr. Daniel Dimagiba, the new CA justice took her oath of office before Chief Justice Reynato Puno.
Dimagiba, 61, will be designated to the Cebu station of the CA, according to the SC public information office. She will be joined by newly appointed Associate Justice Danton Bueser.
Prior to her appointment to the CA, Dimagiba was Presiding Judge of the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 194 for seven years.
Before joining the judiciary, the Masbate native served as a state prosecutor at the Department of Justice for 13 years.
An alumna of the Ateneo de Manila University, Justice Dimagiba has been cited as an Outstanding Pillar of Criminal Justice by the City of Manila. – Edu Punay, Dennis Carcamo
