'Huaning' to bring more rains
MANILA, Philippines - Tropical storm “Huaning” made landfall over Southern Taiwan yesterday afternoon after bringing heavy rains over some parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, yesterday, the state weather bureau said.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather forecaster Mario Palafox said Huaning would continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the western section of Luzon and Visayas in the next four days.
He said occasional rainshowers are expected over Palawan, Mindoro, Cavite, Zambales, Dagupan, Iloilo, Negros and the Panay peninsula.
Metro Manila, on the other hand, would have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers in the next four days.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, Palafox said Huaning was spotted at 290 kilometers north-northwest of Basco, Batanes, packing winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
It is forecast to move west-northwest at 22 kph.
Huaning was predicted to be 480 kms north-northwest of Basco yesterday evening and at 720 kms northwest of Basco this morning. Palafox said Huaning was expected to leave the country last night.
From a tropical depression, Huaning intensified into a storm yesterday morning.
