Palace empathizes with Burgos mother

-

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang said yesterday it commiserates with Edita Burgos, mother of Jonas Burgos who has been missing for two years.

Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III issued the statement as the abduction of Burgos marked its second anniversary yesterday.

He said the authorities have not stopped its investigation and search for the missing activist.

Mrs. Burgos said she was certain that “state actors” were behind the abduction of her son and the following cover-up.

“We commiserate with Mrs. Editha Burgos and we understand her feelings,” Bello said. “We are equally interested on who the perpetrators are.”

He said Mrs. Burgos could share with the authorities all other information she might have that would help in the investigation. – Paolo Romero
