Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya arrives today for a two-day visit to discuss bilateral issues and concerns with President Arroyo and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo.
A seasoned diplomat, Kasit was appointed by Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej last Dec. 22.
Prior to his appointment, he was ambassador to Germany, Japan and the United States. He studied at Georgetown University and the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands.
Aside from discussing bilateral and regional issues, Kasit and President Arroyo will also tackle the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-Thai diplomatic relations and the 16th ASEAN Summit to be held in Hua Hin, Thailand from Feb. 27 to March 1. – Pia Lee-Brago
