Voter's ID can now be checked on Internet - Comelec
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday announced that who want to check on the status of their voter’s identification cards need to email the poll body.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said that voters should email their full name (first, middle, last ), date of birth and address to [email protected].
The Comelec is in the process of automating the elections by implementing the biometrics system in the registration of voters.
Voters are supposed to get their ID cards but the poll body has not released all of them.
This as Jimenez reported that the ongoing voter’s registration in areas outside the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao would be suspended from Dec. 19, 2008 to Jan. 2, 2009 in observance of the Yuletide season.
“All Comelec offices nationwide… will suspend accepting applications for registration on December 19 in observance of Christmas holidays. We will resume voter’s registration on January 2, 2009,” he added.
The registration process, which will end on Dec. 15, 2009, is part of the preparation for the 2010 elections. – Sheila Crisostomo
