MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has banned nude and sleazy photos in all its facilities including command posts, barracks, living quarters and the furthest unit bunkers.
PAF chief Lt. Gen. Pedrito Cadungog warned that Air Force officers and soldiers found violating this directive will face administrative sanctions.
On Friday, Cadungog ordered the removal of nude photos of sexy models in all PAF facilities, a practice now common not only among airmen but also in other units like the Army and Navy, especially those who are assigned in far-flung areas.
Cadungog’s unpopular directive drew varied reactions from the officers’ corps and enlisted personnel.
While all agreed that the PAF chief had the best intention for the airmen, they doubted if this would be fully implemented.
“That’s good so there’ll be no distraction. But you know the soldiers, especially those who are assigned in remote places, they will cut sexy pictures even if it’s just comics and put it near their bed,” said an amused officer.
He also noted that suppliers, not only in the Air Force but also in other military units, give away calendars with nude and sleazy photos of sexy models during Christmas.
But Cadungog, a moral and value formation crusader, said he’d rather be unpopular as a commander to instill values and discipline among his men. – Jaime Laude
