2 held  at NAIA

Two foreigners in separate flights were prevented from boarding their planes  by members of the Migration Compliance and Monitoring Group (MCMG) of the Bureau of Immigration at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1 yesterday morning.

 Northwest airlines ground staff referred to MCMG two Singaporean passport holders for a closer examination and interrogation bound for Detroit, United States on their way to Canada.

MCMG chief Clodualdo Peñera identified the two passport holders as Shankar Tharumalingan and Vijayan Tureh Samy.

Tharumalingan was prevented from boarding a Northwest airlines flight to Detroit NW 72 on his way to Toronto, Canada,

During interrogation Tharumalingan admitted misrepresenting the real Tharumalingan, owner of the passport. His real identity is Taja Khumar Raguman.

While VIjayan Toreh Samy, a Singaporean national, 41  accompanied one Raguman from Jakarta, Indonesia and arrived at NAIA terminal 2 last June 11 on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 536.

Peñera said that  Raguman was an impostor/ a look-a-like of the real Tharumalingan, although both Singaporean passports were found to be authentic. – Rudy Santos
