Yahoo! powers philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Yahoo!, a leading global Internet company and the largest publisher on the Web, and philstar.com, the Philippines’ leading portal for news and infotainment, announced a strategic partnership whereby Yahoo! Search Technology will power philstar.com’s (www.philstar.com) Web search offering.

This partnership will allow philstar.com’s readers to conduct Web searches via a Yahoo! Search Box located on the site.

The Yahoo! Search Technology covers many areas, including Web Search (Yahoo! Search in the Philippines), Social Search (Yahoo! Answers) and Mobile Search (Yahoo! oneSearch) – all of which are considered key starting points to help Philippine consumers find, use, share and expand knowledge online.

“Yahoo! has been providing indispensable search experiences to hundreds of millions of people and thousands of partners worldwide,” said Jojo Anonuevo, general manager for Philippine operations of Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

“Our leadership position and Pinoy-centric vision makes Yahoo! an attractive partner of choice for publishers in the Philippines to grow their business. Today, we are happy to welcome philstar.com to Yahoo!’s vast and growing worldwide partner network,” Anonuevo added.

philstar.com provides the latest news and infotainment to over 800,000 unique readers in the Philippines and worldwide. The company expects readership/site traffic to grow by at least five percent through this collaboration.

“Our partnership with Yahoo! is a perfect example of how we at philstar.com always aim to provide our users with the best experience possible. Through the addition of valuable services such as the Yahoo! Search Box, we are confident that we can grow engagement on our site and our readers will gain an even more enriching experience while browsing philstar.com,” said Katrina Sandejas-Mañosa, general manager of philstar.com.

This partnership is based on Yahoo!’s business strategy in the Philippines to execute on three multi-year objectives: Make Yahoo! the starting point for the most consumers; become the “must buy” for the most advertisers; and be a “partner of choice” by delivering industry-leading platforms for the most publishers and developers.
