The Commission on Appointments confirmed yesterday the nominations of seven ambassadors, a foreign service officer and a member of the Judicial and Bar Council.
The newly-confirmed ambassadors were Zenaida Tacorda Rabago, assigned in Bangladesh with concurrent jurisdiction over Sri Lanka and the Maldives; Oscar Valenzuela, Egypt, with concurrent jurisdiction over Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti; Victor Garcia III, Russia, with concurrent jurisdiction over Armenia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
The other ambassadors were Leoncio Cardenas, assigned in Timor-Leste; Luis Cruz, South Korea; Petronila Garcia, Israel; and Julius Torres, Jordan.
Foreign Service Officer 2 Arvic Arevalo was also confirmed, as was Conrado Castro, representative of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines to the Judicial and Bar Council with a term of four years.
The Judicial and Bar Council of the Philippines is a constitutionally-created body that recommends appointees for vacancies that may arise in the Supreme Court and other lower courts.
The regular members are nominated by the President, with the concurrence of the CA.
