Saguisag back on respirator

Lawyer Rene Saguisag was again placed on respirator after he experienced difficulty breathing without the aid of a machine yesterday.

The Makati Medical Center (MMC) did not issue a medical bulletin but The STAR sources said the former senator also underwent another CT scan.

On Saturday, the MMC said Saguisag might be moved out of the intensive care unit next week, citing his steady recovery since the tragic accident.

Saguisag was seriously hurt in the road mishap that killed his wife Dulce last Nov. 8 in Makati City.

Despite his injuries, doctors have been periodically announcing that Saguisag is getting better and better everyday as well as his driver, Philip Calvario. However, doctors did not allow him to be at his wife’s funeral last Friday at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.

The former senator sustained fractured ribs after a dump truck rammed the van he and his wife were riding along with their dance instructor.

“Once Atty. Saguisag is transferred to a regular room, we would concentrate on treating and checking the condition of his fractured ribs and contusions until these are completely healed,” Dr. Eric Nubla said.

The MMC’s last medical bulletin said a tube is still draining fluids that have accumulated in Saguisag’s lungs.  Michael Punongbayan
