New PCG chief is mistah of AFP, PNP chiefs

The newly appointed commandant of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Vice Admiral Danilo Abinoja, has vowed to ensure maritime safety in the country through intensified security in ports and improvement in competence of Coast Guard personnel.

After learning of his appointment, Abinoja said  he would pursue projects that would improve services of the Coast Guard.

“We are specifically tasked to ensure safety and security in our ports and sea transportation. This is necessary to help boost development in provinces as part of the President’s Nautical Highway program. We will do our best to secured environment for roll-on, roll-off operations,” he said.

After six weeks in acting capacity, Abinoja was formally named by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC)  the 21st commandant of the Coast Guard. Abinoja is a classmate of Armed Forces chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Avelino Razon of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1974.     – Edu Punay
